Capelton Mines, 800 ch. Capleton, is a journey through time. Visitors travel by wagon up the mountain to the copper mine's entrance. The temperature in the mine is 9 C (48 F). They then explore the shafts and galleries on foot for 2 hours accompanied by a guide who is as passionate about the site as the original miners were in the 1800s. Also on the 263-hectare (650-acre) site are nature trails, a physical fitness course and a mining museum.
Mine tour narration in English is available by reservation. Prospector tours also are available for an additional fee. Warm clothing and comfortable, waterproof walking shoes are recommended.
