City of Energy (La Cité de l'énergie), 1000 av. Melville, is a science- and technology-themed center located near Shawinigan Falls, an important source of hydroelectric power. State-of-the-art displays explore the themes of electricity, aluminum smelting, pulp and paper, and electrochemistry as well as these fields' relevance to the city of Shawinigan. Included are the Planet Energy exhibit and the multimedia presentation.

In addition the center offers tours of the hydroelectric power plant Shawinigan-2, a river cruise and a city sightseeing tour. A panoramic view can be enjoyed from a 115-metre (377-ft.) observation tower.
