National Museum of American Illustration is at 492 Bellevue Ave. Situated in Vernon Court, an opulent Gilded Age 1898 mansion surrounded by 3 acres of formal gardens, the museum focuses on illustration artwork created for reproduction in books, periodicals and other print media. Featured artists include J.C. Leyendecker, Maxfield Parrish, Howard Pyle, Norman Rockwell and N.C. Wyeth. An 8-minute film introduces visitors to the original works in the collection. An adjacent 3-acre arboretum designed by Frederick Law Olmsted in 1884 provides a park-like setting.

Note: Proper dress is required.
