Rosecliff, 548 Bellevue Ave., was built in 1902 for Theresa Fair Oelrichs, whose Irish immigrant father was among those who discovered the Comstock Silver Lode in Nevada. Designed by Stanford White after Louis XIV's Grand Trianon at Versailles, the terra-cotta mansion replaced a less opulent one. The estate was named for its many rose beds. Sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens provided the garden ornamentation.

“The Great Gatsby” was filmed at Rosecliff in 1974; “True Lies” was filmed here in 1994 and “27 Dresses” was filmed in 2007. The mansion boasts a 40-foot by 80-foot ballroom with French doors opening onto terraces; a curving, 18th-century French-style staircase considered one of White's finest works; a Caen Stone carved fireplace; and 18th- and 19th-century sculptures. An exhibition gallery on the second floor features rotating museum exhibitions.
