AAA Editor Notes
Woodrow Wilson Family Home is at 1705 Hampton St. The 1871 residence was home to Joseph and Jeannie Wilson and their four children, including their 14-year-old son, Thomas Woodrow Wilson (Tommy), during the Reconstruction era. Wilson went on to become the 28th president of the United States (1913-21). The main floor includes an entry hall, formal parlor, smaller parlor, dining room, service areas and Dr. Wilson's study and the upstairs consists of bedrooms. The rooms mostly are presented as exhibits related to the Wilson family and the Reconstruction era (citizenship, religion, education, family life, domestic roles, power and politics in food production) rather than as period rooms.

The grounds feature gardens—herb, vegetable, perennial, rose, fruit tree—as well as a small vineyard and represent the types of gardens that would have been common in the 1870s for homes similar to the Wilson home.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 45 minutes minimum.
