Fort Hill: National Historic Landmark is at 520 Fort Hill St. at jct. Calhoun Dr. at Clemson University, land acquired by John C. Calhoun during his first term as U.S. vice president to John Quincy Adams and occupied while vice president to Andrew Jackson. His son-in-law, Thomas G. Clemson, founded the university that now occupies the former plantation. Many original furnishings belonging to Calhoun and Clemson families interpret the house museum and the lives of the planters and enslaved workers.
