Riverfront Park and Historic Columbia Canal, 312 Laurel St., centers on the city's original waterworks and hydroelectric plant. A walkway leads to the Columbia Canal. The 1824 canal was an essential means of transportation prior to the railroad. It then became a major source of hydroelectric power. The park features several brick buildings, vintage-style lighting fixtures and wrought-iron fencing. Recreation includes biking, hiking and fishing.
Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
