AAA Editor Notes
Shoeless Joe Jackson Museum and Baseball Library, 356 Field St., is the former home of Joe (1888-1951) and Kate Jackson; it was moved from 3 miles away to this site in 2006. Jackson, who played professional baseball 1908-19 and had an amazing career batting average, was caught up in the 1919 World Series scandal in which he and seven of his Chicago White Sox teammates were given lifetime suspensions for allegedly throwing the Series. The seven-room brick home displays records, artifacts, photographs, film and other items of interest associated with Jackson's life and baseball career.
