The Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village and Archeodome is 2 mi. n. on Sanborn Blvd. (SR 37), follow signs w. on 23rd Ave., then .6 mi. n.e. to 3200 Indian Village Rd. The museum and Archeodome are on the site of an early Native American village that thrived 1,000 years ago. The village was originally built above Firesteel Creek; the creek was dammed to create Lake Mitchell in modern times. Visitors can tour the site with or without a guide. The museum has a full-scale reproduction of an earthen lodge along with examples of pottery and agricultural tools used by these early people.

The Archeodome is a research center that was built over a portion of the archeological remains of the village; archeologists work the site mid-June to mid-July. Archeology Awareness Days are held the first weekend in July.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
