AAA Editor Notes
Tennessee Valley Railroad is at 4119 Cromwell Rd.; use the Jersey Pike exit off SR 153, near I-75. This historic railroad re-creates passenger train travel typical of the early 20th century. Locomotive crews wear overalls, and conductors punch each ticket. A vintage steam- or diesel-powered passenger train offers a 55-minute, 6-mile sightseeing trip over three bridges and through a Civil War railroad tunnel.

The East Chattanooga Station features a railroad yard with diesel engines, cars and a giant turntable. In mid-October the railroad also offers the Autumn Leaf Special, a mainline excursion to northwestern Georgia. Other excursions are offered.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
