The Carter House is at 1140 Columbia Ave. (US 31). Displays inside this 1830 brick farmhouse commemorate the Battle of Franklin. The house contains original and period furniture, and a museum has Civil War relics and a video about the Battle of Franklin. With more than 1,000 bullet holes, the farm office at Carter House is one of the most damaged Civil War buildings still standing. Specialty tours also are offered.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.

$18; $8 (ages 6-15). Specialty tours $25. A combination ticket with Historic Carnton Plantation and The Lotz House is available. Reservations are recommended for specialty tours.
Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. 11-5. Last tour begins 1 hour before closing.
