Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is 10 mi. s. on Loop 1, then e. to 4801 La Crosse Ave. Featuring display gardens, a family garden, nature trails, a visitor center, an arboretum and a rainwater-collection system, this 279-acre botanical garden encourages the increased use of native plants. Flowers bloom year-round, but the blooming season peaks March through May and in October. An open-air butterfly garden is landscaped with 300 butterfly-friendly plant species.

Guided tours are available by reservation.
