USS Lexington Museum on the Bay is docked at 2914 N. Shoreline Blvd. Because this aircraft carrier was reported sunk no less than four times during World War II, it was nicknamed “The Blue Ghost” by the Japanese. View flight and hangar decks, the crew's living areas and the engine room. Learn about Word War II by using virtual battle stations and pilot a fighter jet in the flight simulator. Movies are shown on a three-story screen aboard the ship at the 3-D MEGA Theater. Self-guiding tours of the 910-foot naval museum involve climbing steep stairways; comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
