Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge is 9 mi. n.w. on SR 199/Jacksboro Hwy., 2 mi. w. of Lake Worth Bridge. Hiking and nature trails make the interior of this 3,620-acre preserve accessible. Animals frequently seen include bison, white-tailed deer, coyotes, turkeys and a wide variety of birds. A prairie dog town and bison range offer opportunities to see these animals in their natural habitat.
