A bit of Houston history is on display at this restaurant, whose dining room has been the setting for cozy meals for family, friends and couples since 1936. The focal point is a beautiful garden, featuring waterfalls and a waterwheel. The menu holds special delights, including delicious jumbo lump crab cakes, select cuts of prime beef, fresh seafood and classic home-style recipes from the original owners, such as beef stroganoff, German potatoes and the not-to-be-missed apple strudel. During Sunday brunch you can expect traditional selections such as eggs made your way, applewood smoked bacon, skillet-fried potatoes and biscuits with sausage gravy. Other enjoyable choices include smoked salmon bagel, chicken with waffles and "Brenner's Benedict," which comes with a buttermilk biscuit, a jumbo lump crab cake, prime rib, poached egg with hollandaise sauce and skillet-fried potatoes. This establishment is closed for lunch on Monday and Saturday.
