The McNay Art Museum is at 6000 N. New Braunfels Ave. Housed in the 24-room Spanish Colonial Revival-style mansion of philanthropist Marion Koogler McNay, the museum showcases 19th- and 20th-century paintings, prints, drawings and sculpture. The collection features works by Paul Gauguin, Edward Hopper, Joan Mitchell, Alice Neel, Georgia O’Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, and Jackson Pollock. Rotating exhibitions can be viewed in the Jane and Arthur Stieren Center.

The 23 acres include fountains, broad lawns and a Japanese-inspired garden and fish pond. The Tobin Collection of Theatre Arts includes rare books, prints and stage-design drawings.

Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.

Admission
Special exhibitions $20; $15 (ages 65+, students and active military with ID); free (ages 0-19, Thurs. 4-9 and first Sun. of the month).
Hours
Grounds daily 7-6. Museum Wed.-Fri. 10-6 (also Thurs. 4-9), Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5. Closed Jan. 1, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
