Institute of Texan Cultures
AAA Editor Notes
The UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures is on the University of Texas at San Antonio's Hemisfair campus, 801 E. César E. Chávez Blvd. Opened as the Texas State Exhibits Pavilion, which was built for the 1968 HemisFair celebration, the museum was turned over to the University of Texas System to continue to serve as a platform for diversity, multiculturalism and education. Today the museum serves as a campus of the University of at Texas San Antonio and presents the history and diverse cultures of Texas through art, artifacts, permanent and changing exhibits, events, festivals and programs. Visitors learn the stories of immigrants who settled in Texas and contributed to its modern, multicultural society. Exhibits are supplemented by demonstrations and a multimedia presentation in the dome theater.

"You Take It From Here: A Conversation Between Generations About The Places That Change and How They Change Us" is the newest exhibit running through February 10, 2024 and offers a video project featuring three families discussing their connection to San Antonio's East Side. The videos document high school students interviewing their parents’ experiences and thoughts ranging from neighborhood changes and the effect of the Civil Rights on their lives.

Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
