Santa Ana Chiautempan is about 3 km (2 mi.) e. of the city center. The village is well known for hand-loomed sarapes and beautiful bolts of cloth. Numerous shops sell rugs and sarapes. Native craftwork is augmented by the tweeds and woolen bedspreads produced in the Tlaxcala region's modern textile plants.
