Centennial Park is at West End and 25th aves. The site of the 1897 Tennessee Centennial Exposition, the 132-acre park features grassy areas; sunken gardens; two dog parks; a playground; a water feature; monuments; a band shell; a 1-mile walking trail around Lake Watauga; the Performing Arts Studio; Centennial Art Center, which displays works of art by local and regional artists; and The Parthenon, which houses an art museum. The unearthed Cockrill Spring is located near the West End Avenue entrance.

“If Trees Could Sing,” an interactive outdoor exhibit, features 18 video presentations by Nashville celebrities that can be accessed by smartphone. Free outdoor music concerts are held at the band shell on Saturday afternoons during Musicians Corner, May-June and Sept.-Oct.
