Big Spring State Park is off I-20 exit 174 (eastbound) or 181A (westbound) on FM 700. Named for the only watering place for bison, antelopes and wild horses within a 60-mile radius, the park is atop a 200-foot mesa at the south city limits. Highlights of the 382-acre park include a prairie dog town, jogging and nature trails, a playground, picnic sites and a panorama from a 2.5-mile scenic drive around the mountain.

Picnicking is permitted.
