Amon Carter Museum of American Art is 2.5 mi. w. at 3501 Camp Bowie Blvd. Designed by architect Philip Johnson, the museum houses 19th- and 20th-century paintings, sculpture and works on paper; it also is a repository of American photography. The museum's collection includes masterworks by such artists as John Singer Sargent, Georgia O'Keeffe, Frederic Remington, Winslow Homer and Stuart Davis. The interior walls of the museum are made of fossilized Texas shellstone. Visitors can view downtown Fort Worth through windows overlooking a landscaped plaza and lawn.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
