AAA Editor Notes
The Guenther House is at 205 E. Guenther St. This majestic 1860 home, which now operates as a museum and restaurant, was built along the San Antonio River by Pioneer Flour Mills founder Carl Hilmar Guenther. In the early 1900s the mansion was renovated by Guenther's youngest son, Erhard, who became the company's president.

Old-fashioned baking utensils and a collection of anniversary Dresden china plates are among the treasures displayed in the former library. The Victorian parlor is adorned with pine floors and exquisite window coverings, furniture and mirrors. Stop by the Art Nouveau-style restaurant for a peek at its stained-glass windows, copper light fixtures and ornate wood and plaster paneling.

Food is available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
