Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge is 13 mi. n. on FM 1417, then 6 mi. w. to 6465 Refuge Rd. This 11,320-acre area on the southern end of the Big Mineral Arm of Lake Texoma is a resting and feeding place for migratory birds and a winter home for geese and ducks. Shore bird migrations peak in the summer. The visitor center provides interpretive displays and bird lists. Fishing, hiking and picnicking are permitted all year; boating is permitted mid-March through September.
