AAA Editor Notes
State Capitol is at 350 N. State St. on Capitol Hill. The Corinthian-style structure was built in 1916 of Georgia marble and Utah granite. The top consists of a huge copper-covered dome. Inside are a main hall and rotunda as well as historical wall and ceiling murals. The State Reception Room, or “Gold Room,” gets its nickname from its lavish furnishings and extensive use of gold leaf.

Guided tours are available.
