Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site is at 4301 W. Braddock Rd., just e. of I-395 between King St. and Seminary Rd. Fort Ward sits on 45 acres and was one of the forts that formed a defensive ring around Washington, D.C., during the Civil War. The museum presents changing exhibits pertaining to that conflict. The Dorothy C.S. Starr Library also is on the grounds.

Interpretive programs, an orientation video and lectures are offered throughout the year.

Picnicking is permitted.
