Hollywood Cemetery is at the n. end of Robert E. Lee Bridge at 412 S. Cherry St. and Albemarle St. In addition to Confederate President Jefferson Davis, several noted Virginians are buried here, including Presidents John Tyler and James Monroe, Gen. Fitzhugh Lee, congressman John Randolph, Gen. J.E.B. Stuart, Gov. William Smith and Gen. George E. Pickett. A 90-foot-high granite pyramid honors 18,000 buried Confederate soldiers. The cemetery, which opened in 1849, is named for its holly trees.
