Maymont Mansion

Maymont Mansion is on the Maymont estate at 2201 Shields Lake Dr. Completed in 1893 by James and Sallie Dooley, the stately 33-room home overlooking the James River was gifted to the community in 1925. Today, the art- and antiques-filled manor is open to the public, with guided tours of the luxurious upstairs rooms offered. In contrast, the Dooleys' domestic staff lived and worked in the austere belowstairs; eight period rooms with informational panels are accessible by self-guiding tour.
