Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is at 200 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd. Ancient to contemporary art is represented at this museum, with more than 35,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years of world history. The collection includes Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Fabergé, Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, American, British, Modern and Contemporary paintings, prints, jewelry, decorative arts and sculpture.

Among the highlights are the Mellon Collection of French Art; the Lewis Collection of Late 19th- and Early 20th-Century Decorative Arts; European and American masterpieces, including works by Goya, Sargent and Monet; ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman art, including a life-size marble statue of the emperor Caligula; one of the world’s leading collections of the art of South Asia; African art; and an extensive array of English silver.

In addition the museum features a sculpture garden as well as special exhibitions, educational activities, studio classes and concerts.
