AAA Editor Notes
Japanese American Exclusion Memorial is adjacent to Joel Pritchard Park at 4192 Eagle Harbor Dr. On the south shore of Eagle Harbor in a wooded setting traversed by walkways, footbridges and meandering paths, the memorial commemorates 227 Bainbridge Island residents of Japanese descent who were sent into exile in 1942 at the beginning of U.S. involvement in World War II. A 276-foot-long Story Wall displays the name of each exile and follows the path they walked under armed guard. A kiosk at the entrance pavilion provides background information.

Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
