Theler Wetland Trails

Theler Wetland Trails are 1 mi. s. on SR 3 next to the Mary E. Theler Community Center at 22871 E. SR 3. This 139-acre nature reserve features 3.5 miles of trails threading the wetlands along the Union River and the head of Hood Canal. The Rock Wall Trail leads through a mixed forest to a native plant demonstration garden and the Wetlands Exhibit Center, where there are natural history displays. Along the short South Tidal Marsh Trail a boardwalk bridges the saltwater marsh at the edge of the canal's tidelands. The Sweetwater Creek Trail loops through a forest wetland, while the 1.5-mile River Estuary Trail traverses a freshwater marsh to the banks of the Union River. A 2-acre native garden is on the premises.
