AAA Editor Notes
Spark Museum of Electrical Invention is at 1312 Bay St. The museum's collection covers human achievements dating as far back as 1580. Among the many notable inventors saluted are Thomas Edison, Benjamin Franklin and Guglielmo Marconi. The focal point is a 10-foot Tesla coil—for the uninitiated, a type of circuit transformer used to produce electricity—that is said to be the largest example of the device west of Chicago.

Visitors can experience the power of lightning during the 40-minute MegaZapper Electrical Show; not recommended for ages 0-4. Also on display is a full-scale replica of the Titanic's radio room. A library features schematics, rare books and magazines from radio's Golden Age.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
