AAA Editor Notes
Northwest Seaport is in Lake Union Park at 860 Terry Ave. N. The seaport features two landmark vessels moored at the end of South Lake Union Historic Ships Wharf. The 1904 Coast Guard lightship Swiftsure once guided commercial and cruise ships entering and leaving the Pacific Ocean. The 1933 salmon troller Twilight is a commercial fishing boat that pulls lines hung from long poles slowly through the water.

Hands-on “Engineer For a Day” experiences, a children's story hour, education programs and sleepovers take place aboard the 1889 tugboat Arthur Foss. In addition to towing barges during the Alaska gold rush and serving in World War II, the tugboat was the Narcissus in the 1933 film “Tugboat Annie.” Sea chantey sings and other maritime-themed concerts are offered regularly. Stem-to-stern tours of the 120-foot tug also are given; reservations are required.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
