Wild Horse Renewable Energy Center is at 25905 Vantage Hwy. Located at 3,500 feet on a windswept ridge amid the 149-turbine Wild Horse Wind Facility, the visitor center has video displays about the construction of the wind farm, current power output, the shrub steppe environment, Native American use of the land, solar technology and local geology. A wind turbine blade, generator and transformer are on display outside. Sweeping views encompass the Columbia Basin, Kittitas Valley and Cascade volcanoes from mounts Rainier and Adams to distant Hood.
Closed-toe shoes are required on guided tours.
