Underground Tour departs from a restored speakeasy beneath Doc Maynard's Public House at 614 1st Ave. Tours explore a four-block area—both above and below ground—of the Pioneer Square Historic District. The tour includes subterranean sidewalks and abandoned turn-of-the-20th-century storefronts created when street levels were raised 8 to 35 feet following The Great Seattle Fire of 1889. The guided tour, humorously narrated, highlights Seattle's history in the aftermath of the fire that destroyed 30 blocks of downtown Seattle.

Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. Tour participants must be able to walk on uneven ground and climb stairs.

Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
