LeMay—America's Car Museum is n. of I-5 exit 133 (I-705 to the E. 26th St. exit) at 2702 E. D St., just w. of the Tacoma Dome. The 9-acre campus is a technologically advanced, interactive automotive and education center. An international destination for families and auto enthusiasts, the museum explores and celebrates America’s love affair with the automobile and how it shaped society.

The museum's centerpiece is the four-level, 165,000-square-foot main building. This cavernous, wood-ribbed space showcases hundreds of contemporary and futuristic cars with brand names that span the more than 100-year history of the automobile. The four floors are accessed by ramps on each side of the showroom; walk down all four ramps on one side and back up the ramps on the opposite side so as not to miss any of the gleaming machines on display. Exhibits and vehicles are rotated regularly.

The NAPA Auto Care Center is a garage area with multiple bays where visitors can view museum vehicles being preserved and prepared for displays, exhibits and events. The Speed Zone features racing simulators and a slot car track. The 3.5-acre Haub Family Field is a multipurpose outdoor venue for car shows, auctions, swap meets, car club events, concerts and new model launches.

Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
