Schlitz Audubon Nature Center is 1 mi. e. of I-43 exit 82A at 1111 E. Brown Deer Rd. This 185-acre nature center and sanctuary on the shores of Lake Michigan has about 6 miles of trails. Hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are popular. The sanctuary provides habitats for native animals and features a 60-foot observation tower offering views of the lake, the city and its surrounding suburbs. The sustainable Dorothy K. Vallier Environmental Learning Center houses natural sciences exhibits.
