Stonefield Historic Site is 1.2 mi. n.w. on CR VV, next to Nelson Dewey State Park. The first of the site's three sections is Stonefield, the reconstructed Gothic Revival home of Nelson Dewey, Wisconsin's first governor. The original red brick house burned in 1873, but the doors, walls and millwork that remained intact were used in the 1879 reconstruction. Books and personal belongings of the Dewey family are displayed. The 2,000-acre estate was one of the few Midwestern farms planned in the manner of a Virginia plantation.

The second section, the State Agricultural Museum, exhibits farm tools and machinery, manufacturers' models and domestic items tracing the evolution of agriculture and rural life from the 19th-century frontier days. A covered bridge leads to the third section, a turn-of-the-20th-century rural village. More than 30 reconstructed buildings are furnished in period and include a bank, saloon, newspaper office, smithy and general store.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
