Whitnall Park, 5879 S. 92nd St., is one of the largest municipal parks in the nation. The 627-acre grounds encompass an 18-hole golf course, an archery range, a 3-mile segment of the 114-mile Oak Leaf multi-use trail , a variety of all-year recreational facilities, picnic areas, nature trails, an environmental education center, botanical gardens and arboretum. In winter the park is popular for cross-country skiing and sledding. A toboggan slide features a groomed ice track with rentable sleds that can reach speeds close to 40 miles per hour.
Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
