AAA Editor Notes
Norris Geyser Basin is just n. of Norris Junction on the main park road. Boardwalks and trails lead across this barren valley of steam vents and rainbow-colored pools. This is the oldest and hottest geothermal area in the park, with water temperatures above 200 degrees.

Steamboat Geyser, the world's tallest geyser, has reached heights of 300-400 feet but often remains quiet for months or years between major eruptions. Echinus Geyser was long considered the only predictable geyser at Norris, though its performance has fluctuated in the past decade.

Note: Due to new seismic activity, some trails in this area may be closed.
