AAA Editor Notes
Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, 710 S. Lions Park Dr., has a variety of themed gardens, including annual and perennial displays, xeriscape, rose and herb gardens. A 6,800-square-foot solar-heated greenhouse conservatory houses tropical foliage, cacti, herbs and roses as well as a waterfall and a pond. Visitors can walk through a seven-circuit labyrinth; for blind and physically impaired visitors there are four stone benches inscribed with “finger labyrinths.” Wyoming's oldest steam locomotive is on the grounds. The 28,000-square-foot Grand Conservatory contains a Navy submarine periscope along with telescope and microscope stations.

Kids learn about sustainability as they explore Paul Smith Children's Village. This LEED-certified site has a solar-powered discovery lab, a solar-heated and solar-powered greenhouse, a wetlands area, a tepee village, a secret garden and an amphitheater where kids can put on puppet shows. Special activities and events are offered.

Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
