Museum of the Mountain Man is at 700 E. Hennick St. The museum contains exhibits relating to the rugged individuals—Jim Bridger, Kit Carson, Thomas Fitzpatrick and William Sublette, to name a few—who opened the West to settlers. Displays focus on exploration, the fur trade, the Plains Native Americans and early settlement. Items of interest include Jim Bridger's rifle, a Shoshone sheep-horn bow and a collection of Rocky Mountain fur trade journals.
