Imagine this: You’re walking along a secluded beach on an island in the Bahamas. Gentle waves lap the shoreline, and a sailboat bobs just offshore. A few seagulls swoop by, racing their shadows down the beach. You’re pleasantly tired after a day spent sunbathing, snorkeling and splashing in the warm ocean. The only two things on your to-do list? Rest and relaxation.
An escape to a tropical paradise like this one may be easier than you think—thanks to an immersive, 360-degree video campaign created by the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA).
The 360-degree video “Explore the Caribbean Like Never Before at 360°” offers the chance to take a virtual trip to the islands of the Bahamas (think of it like Google Street View), getting up close and personal with the swimming pigs at Pig Beach, a shark feeding at Compass Cay and an underwater shipwreck surrounded by schools of fish and scuba divers.

Highlights from Your Virtual Bahamas Trip

Preview paradise from the comfort of your own home—no virtual reality headset required—with the video “Explore the Caribbean Like Never Before at 360°” from CAA.
Below are highlights from the 360-degree video, with timestamps indicated if you want to jump to a particular view.
• Your virtual Bahamas tour begins with a bird’s-eye view of a sandbar in The Exumas, an archipelago of 365 islands and cays in the Bahamas that lies southeast of Nassau. This particular Exumas sandbar is populated only by a few sunbathers and surrounded by some of the clearest water around. (Drag your mouse within the video to explore the beautiful scenery in every direction.)
• [0:26] Next you’re transported to the sandbar itself to check out the view as a couple strolls by. Their footprints may be the only ones on the sand all day on this secluded island.
• [0:43] All that sun means it’s time for a cooling dip in the ocean, so you’ll soar above an anchored sailboat as swimmers splash and play in the crystal-clear water.

• [0:59] Now it’s time for some adventure—virtually. You’re whisked to Compass Cay where you watch as a couple feeds the nurse sharks.
• [1:18] Next up is a visit to Pig Beach on Big Major Cay in The Exumas to see the beloved swimming pigs and piglets. In this part of the video you’ll hear their oinks as well as the sounds of hungry seagulls.
• [1:36] At Stuart’s Cove, no scuba gear is required as you virtually explore an underwater shipwreck surrounded by sharks, schools of fish and other divers.

• [2:08] Back on land, you’re dropped at the end of a dock overlooking the ocean as a couple jumps off into the turquoise water.
• [2:38] Your day is almost done! You’ll relax on a sandy beach to watch paddle boarders in action and listen to the sounds of the waves.
• [3:07] The virtual trip ends with an aerial view of one of the many uninhabited islands in the Bahamas archipelago.
