We all know that taking time off and getting away from work is good for us, so why do so many Americans not do it? In a 2021 Destination Analysts survey used by the U.S. Travel Association, only one-quarter of American workers used the entire amount of their time last year and left 29 percent, or about four days, of their time off on the table; however, nearly 64 percent reveal they desperately need a vacation. Perhaps everyone needs a reminder that there are real health benefits to leaving behind our 9-to-5 workaday lives. After all, almost 79 percent, or eight in 10 people in that same survey, believe time off is integral to one's health and well-being.
Taking time off to be more active, breathe fresh air, experience new things and to pamper yourself can help you de-stress and recharge. Even just planning a trip can keep you motivated and upbeat by giving you something to look forward to.
