Angry Egg Roll

667 Red River St.

Big, “angry” egg rolls are on the menu at this tiny trailer with a big, red, angry face painted on the front. Options include "The Drunken Master," an extra-large classic Cantonese “probably pork” egg roll. For a vegetarian option, there's “The Grasshopper,” also large and angry but made with caramelized garlic roasted cashews instead of pork.

Arlo's Curbside Kitchen

900 Red River St.1700 E. 6th St.

Arlo's has three locations near nightlife spots around Austin, two of them downtown, serving plant-based alternatives to the usual late-night food truck fare. Featuring local, organic, non-GMO products, Arlo's offers a selection of vegan burgers and tacos with sides including regular and sweet potato fries, tots, and chips and salsa.

Bar-B-Q Heaven

519 E. 7th St.

While you could go crazy here with the Coma Plate—six meats with beans, potato salad, onions and pickles—this popular barbecue truck offers several smaller plates with one to four meats, or you can choose from a menu of sandwiches and burgers that are all under $7. Barbecue options include brisket, chicken, chopped beef, pulled pork, ribs and sausage.

Chi'Lantro

823 Congress Ave.1111 E. 6th St.

Chi'Lantro serves up Korean-Mexican fusion for breakfast and lunch throughout the Austin area, including two locations downtown. Get there early to choose from a variety of breakfast tacos while they last, including the Congress, featuring spicy pork, egg and cheese on a flour tortilla. For lunch, pick from a variety of Korean barbecue offerings such as beef ribeye, spicy pork, soy-glazed chicken or tofu, served with your choice of toppings in a salad, tacos, burrito, rice bowl or noodle bowl.

Grub House

519 E. 7th St.

Grub House opens at 9 p.m. and stays open until 4 a.m., catering to late-night revelers who line up for tacos, fajitas, Philly cheese steaks, wings and the famously spicy “Firecracker Fries.”

Kebabalicious

3rd Street and Congress Avenue

Kebabalicious serves up Middle Eastern flavors in pita sandwiches such as a beef and lamb mix or roasted chicken with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, tzatziki sauce and spicy red sauce. Try the K-Fries—crispy french fries with crushed red pepper, zatar spices, feta cheese and spicy red sauce.

Shawarma Point

519 E. 7th St.

You'll find Indian and Middle Eastern flavors at Shawarma, which dishes up salads, wraps and plates featuring a combination of beef and lamb or chicken marinated in a house spice mix. There is also falafel for vegans, made with chickpeas, fava beans, onions, garlic, parsley and cilantro and available on a salad, wrap or plate.
