Inspector Picks: Five Favorite Rooftop Restaurants

AAA Inspector 31: If it's a sunny day, this is where I go for refreshing cocktails and relaxed noshing on one of the two spectacular rooftop decks with awesome views.

All menu offerings are great for sampling and sharing, but my favorite dish is the crispy pork belly with pickled cherries, ginger and pumpkin seeds. You may feel like you're dining in the clouds, and sometimes you actually are given the restaurant's lofty perch atop the Meier & Frank Building. Two seasonal patios offer great panoramic views of the city, Willamette River and distant Mount Hood.

AAA Inspector 55: Grab a table on the patio for wonderful fireworks shows from the surrounding Disney parks or to bask in a beautiful sunset.

This posh Spanish-influenced steakhouse is set on the 17th floor of the hotel with an outdoor terrace that offers a perfect vantage point to see the sky light up in fireworks from the surrounding Disney parks. High quality ingredients are expertly prepared in a simple manner to showcase their true flavors with complex sauces that add depth to each bite. Fabulous tapas starters include pork belly and charred octopus. Steaks and chops are the specialty with dry-aged Wagyu beef and pork prepared in their open wood-burning grill. The impressive wine selection is amongst the best in the region or you may enjoy a fashionable hand-crafted cocktail before your dining experience in the lounge which often has a live Spanish guitarist setting the mood. Though the stylish design is elevated with beaded matador jackets in glass and a bold red billowing sculpture hanging from the ceiling, the overall vibe is still relaxed and welcoming of families with a children’s menu and coloring pages provided. Complimentary valet parking is available by having your ticket validated by the host desk before departing.

AAA Inspector 55: The rooftop patio is the best spot in town on a pleasant day-except maybe the beach!

This longtime popular spot offers a lengthy menu of great Asian specialties, including creative sushi options, stir-fry dishes, seafood and even a cream of crab soup. When the weather agrees, the rooftop patio can't be beat for serenity. The spa-like setting offers a bird's-eye view of town and koi ponds from tables draped in flowing white fabric and twinkling lights.

AAA Inspector 555: This popular spot’s intimate rooftop dining area is where I choose to enjoy a picturesque dinner under the stars.

Located inside a transformed late-1800s livery stable, this trendy neighborhood gathering place features a variety of Latin-influenced small plates. A few of the tasty offerings include spicy skirt steak, fresh ceviche and savory lamb empanadas. In warmer weather, opt to enjoy your meal on the scenic rooftop dining area. Two bars and over 40 tequila choices are available.

AAA Inspector 66: I get a whole new appreciation for the beauty of the Texas coast while gazing out of the huge floor-to-ceiling windows at this 20th floor perch.

Indubitably one of the more upscale restaurants in this city, this rooftop dining room is known far and wide for its outstanding food, views and ambience. There are large steaks, but also quail, venison and local fresh fish, all uniquely prepared. The plush surroundings and sweeping views of Corpus Christi bay only add to the appeal. All the elements are here for a magical evening...dramatic bay views through 18 ft tall glass panels, exceptional service, great food and live piano music.
