BREC's Magnolia Mound Plantation
2161 Nicholson Dr., Baton Rouge, LA, 70802
BREC's Magnolia Mound Plantation is at 2161 Nicholson Dr. The 1791 French-Creole home once was the centerpiece of a 950-acre cotton plantation. Furnished with Federal-style pieces from the 1800s, the house is surrounded by 16 acres of oak trees, some more than 200 years old. Other structures on-site include a slave cabin and a pigeonnier, an outbuilding used to house squab and game birds. The working plantation grows much of the produce that is prepared during open-hearth cooking presentations. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
