Cave of the Winds, 6 mi. w. of I-25 exit 141 on US 24, offers cave tours through lighted chambers. On the Discovery Tour, a half-mile walking tour, visitors see chambers containing stalactites, stalagmites, helictites and other natural cave formations. On the Lantern Tour visitors light their own way with handheld lanterns while guides tell tales of early cave exploration, ghosts and the history of the cave’s first owners. Caving 101 includes crawling through small passageways. Additional outdoor activities include a rope course, two ziplines, the Via Ferrata Canyon Tour, a virtual reality ride, an aerial ride, a free-fall ride, a climbing wall, an adventure slide, Geronimo's Leap and gold panning. Food is available in summer. Note: Cave temperature is 54 F; jackets are recommended. Guided tours are available. Food is available.
