Museum of the Mountain West is at 68169 Miami Rd. Visitors learn about the history of western Colorado as trained docents guide them through more than 24 original buildings and 11 re-created structures containing period furnishings. Included among the buildings and storefronts are a hotel, sheriff's office, saloon, pharmacy, general store, 1880s doctor's office and one-room schoolhouse. The museum also displays some half-million artifacts, many unusual and rare. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
