United States Military Academy is off SR 9W at 2107 New South Post Rd. The West Point Visitor Center just outside Thayer Gate offers orientation films, exhibits, a replica of a cadet barracks room, maps and brochures. Departing from the visitor center, West Point Tours offers 1.25- and 2-hour narrated combined bus and walking tours of the grounds and some buildings. Tour highlights include Cadet Chapel, which features stained-glass windows and one of the largest church organs in the world; Old Cadet Chapel, built in 1836; Trophy Point, a repository of war relics dating from the American Revolution; and the Plain, a large cadet parade field. Note: A government-issued photo ID is required for anyone over age 17 for all tours. Guided tours are available.
