Western Historic Trails Center is off I-80/I-29 exit 1B, s. on 24th St., then w. to 3434 Richard Downing Ave. This state welcome center traces the history of traveling west from the 1800s to the present, with an emphasis on the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the Mormon Pioneer Trail, the Oregon Trail and the California Trail. Sculptures and historic photographs reflect life along the trails. A half-mile walking trail wends its way to the Missouri River. A 14-minute video presentation is offered. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
